FRI 9-16, 3 pm pst

Tarna

Tarna

bootblacking - the art & sole

Workshop:

Beyond the science and technical, this open forum discussion on the things that go into the experience for those on both sides of the boot. We will cover topics from how to “read a room”, presentation and engagement, to finding fulfillment in the act.

About the Presenter:

Currently working her way back after a brief sojourn in the wild, Tarna is a queer feminine switch with a love for the written word, a lust for adventure, a sweet cigar and sexy pair of boots. She has been blessed to spend the bulk of her adult life in and around the kink and leather communities. This saucy creature can often be found glittering in darkened corners, flirting by way of dad jokes and engaging in conversation with friends new and old alike.

“Kinky ASL & Deaf cutlure”

FRI 9-16, 4:30 pm pst

Thorne

THOrne

“kinky asl & deaf culture”

Workshop:

Basic vocab, phrases in ASL (American Sign Language) and how to navigate kink space and Deaf culture.

Some ASL and kink/non-kink related vocabulary and phrases will be taught/shared as well as some discussion of intersectionality of gender, identity, language, culture. There will be some hands on practice related with how to navigate/communicate properly with ASL in kink space with Deaf persons/creatures.

This is a very basic foundational context of information which I will share/offer due to this being complex and very layered with how to navigate with/between two different cultures/languages: ASL and English ~ Whole body inclusive vs sound/phonic based, touch/sensory vs not sensory, etc. This kind of context can easily be expanded into a series of workshops.

To be clear, this is a really basic foundational context of information to start with in this workshop. Ideal for levels ranging from curious/new to ASL users to more advanced ASL users/folx needing refresher on this info.

**** Note: I will be using ASL interpreters as part of my modes with communication/teaching/interaction in this workshop. ****

I’m looking forward to co-sharing workshop space with y’all!

If there is active interest for a repeat of this topic and/or more of a in depth workshop series, then please contact me via my work email: heartofoak@gmail.com and/or approach me in person!

“Actions speak louder than words”

fri 9-16, 6:00 pm pst

Girl Complex & Scout

Girl COMPLeX & Scout

“Actions speak louder than words”

Workshop:

Talk is cheap. While some folks use taglines like “No tolerance for racism, transphobia, ableism,” etc., often those statements are not followed by actions when marginalized people ask how boundaries will be kept. In this workshop Girl Complex and Scout will talk about their experiences in community where talk has been cheap and actions are not consistent. We will also cover how to be better accomplices to end the oppression of marginalized groups. This is a great time to get comfortable being uncomfortable.

About the Presenters:

Girl Complex, International Ms. Leather 2016 and founder of Unruly is a force to be reckoned with. If you don’t know who she is, show up and find out.

Scout, International Mr. Bootblack 2014 Is loving his time on wuzzy acres. Scout is a producer of Kinky Queer Weekend, founder of the PDX Bootblacks, and Grandpa to many.  He lives in Portland with his collared head boy, Blaise, sweet service dog Ghostie, and can usually be found wrangling a pack of helpful boys.

Got Consent?

Workshop:

Ask yourself: Have you talked about what you’re going to do, including sexual contact? Does everyone understand the risks involved? Do you know how you can stop, even if you’re doing CNC? Join this workshop to find out about Explicit Prior Permission, the new legal framework for consent to kink, along with how to tell the difference between BDSM vs. Abuse. We'll also talk about consent policies for groups, liability issues events may face if they let consent violators attend, along with information on trauma reactions so you can better support survivors.

Workshop:

What is so heavy that you cannot hold it? Is it a pitcher of water balancing on an outstretched hand? Is it the word you cannot say to your lover? Is it the memories that bubble up when you are whipped? What is your burden? How do we play with it? How do we keep ourselves safe? How do we continue to open ourselves to release trauma while practicing BDSM? Let’s talk about it.

About the Presenter:

Mermaidhooked: a sadomasochistic crybaby who is continuously expanding their understanding of kink and relationships through the lens of personal experience. A nonbinary kinbaku artist who utilizes self tying as a way to challenge the body and mind. This class will discuss how common difficulties affect learning and providing service and how to best work around it.

About the Presenter:

Magic (they/it) is a queer, disabled, neurodivergent leather slave. They’ve had a passion for the community since they first joined nearly 7 years ago. A passion so strong that it even found its way into their studies. Their passion for leather has shaped itself into providing education and service for the community. Over the past several years they have volunteered for various venues and events, virtual and not.
